SUMMARY:2024 SART/CCRT Summit: Bridging the Gaps
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\nThe SART/CCRT Summit is an opportunity for Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) leaders and members across the state to gather together to improve outcomes for victims and survivors across Ohio. The 2024 Summit: Bridging the Gaps will focus on eliminating crucial gaps for Ohio teams including: \n\nStatewide Sexual Assault Research: Increasing our knowledge of SARTs/CCRTs across the state is vital in creating continuum of care and efficacy of our teams. Learn about and participate in this groundbreaking research.\nSexual Assault Processes in Neighboring States: When cases cross state lines\, many barriers exist including ensuring survivors receive state specific kit tracking\, billing\, and services. Hear from some of Ohio’s neighboring states about their processes and how to connect.\nStatewide SART Meeting: Each region (northwest\, northeast\, central\, southeast\, and southwest Ohio) will have a breakout room to meet with other SART/CCRT leaders and members across the state. This facilitated meeting space will serve as a space to identify and create real time solutions for gaps in your region\, increase communication across county lines\, and serve as a connection point for stakeholders who serve multiple counties.\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW [vc_column_text]\nFor questions\, please email Nicole\, Director of Coordinated Community Responses\, at ncolvin@oaesv.org.[/vc_column_text]\nThis project was supported by Subgrant No. 15JOVW-23-GG-00594-STOP awarded by the state administering office for the Office on Violence Against Women\,U.S. Department of Justice’s STOP Formula Grant Program. SUMMARY:Seasonal Training Series (Spring): Working With Survivors Who Use Alcohol and/or Drugs
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\nMEMBERS ONLY\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\n\n\n\n\n\nIn order to serve survivors more holistically\, it’s important to understand why survivors may use drugs and/or alcohol to cope with trauma and learn Harm Reduction Principles so they can provide more survivor-centered services.\n\n\n  \nPart 1: Foundations of Harm Reduction – March 25 • 10 am to 12 pm \nWe’ll start by providing a comprehensive overview of harm reduction. This approach incorporates a practical set of strategies designed to prevent disease and promote health by “meeting people where they are” rather than making judgments about where they should be in terms of their personal health and lifestyle. This course will assist providers in more effectively engaging their clients in various interventions to reduce the risk of harm. \n\nPart 2: Safer Use – April 22 • 10 am to 12 pm \nContinuing in this series\, we will provide information about how drugs are used\, why they are used\, and ways to reduce the harms from using drugs. Participants will also learn how to use Harm Reduction methods to engage with survivors who use drugs and better understand their experience. \nPart 3: Redefining Trauma Through a Harm Reduction Framework – May 6 • 10 am to 12 pm \n\nWe’ll end our series by exploring how sexual and intimate partner violence intersects with other forms of oppression such as substance use living/lived history\, sex work history\, gender identity/expression\, race\, class\, and sexual orientation. Participants will be able to discuss how applying a Harm Reduction Framework can help make their services more survivor-centered and trauma-informed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text]CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW [vc_column_text]\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Seasonal Training Series (Fall): Story Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]With leaves turning golden\, nightfall arriving sooner\, and fires being lit\, autumn is the perfect time to settle down in a comfy chair with trusted company and tell stories. Storytelling can be a creative outlet for folks to find connection with one another or can help repair the disruption that can be caused by trauma. As victim service providers\, we should provide survivors of sexual violence that trusted space to share their story. Join OAESV for this 3-part series on Story Stewardship. \nPart 1: The Power of Storytelling – October 23\, 10am-12pm\n \nWe’ll start by laying the foundation of what makes storytelling so powerful and why it holds such significance in our work. During this training\, participants will gain insight into the relevance and benefits of incorporating storytelling into their work. We’ll also practice the art of personal storytelling and explore various storytelling strategies and techniques. \nPart 2: Storytelling Ethics Retreat – November 20\, 10am-12pm\n \nAfter establishing our storytelling foundation\, Part 2 of this series will take a look at how we\, as victim service providers\, ethically hold spaces for survivors to share their stories and only share their stories in ways that feel safe for them. We’ll learn the ethical considerations and effective approaches when faced with ethical issues. We’ll also explore essential factors to consider when embarking on narrative-focused and collaborative art-engaged work. \nPart 3: How to Plan a Workshop – November 27\, 10am-12pm \nWe’ll close our time together with a look at how local victim service providers can run storytelling workshops to help survivors find the best way to share their own stories. We’ll discover the resources and tools required to excel in story work and explore and learn about the principles and practices of participatory and co-designed planning approaches. We’ll also develop techniques to garner buy-in and investment from all involved parties\, including decision makers\, storytellers\, and staff.[/vc_column_text]CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW [vc_column_text]\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:OAESV Advocacy Day 2023
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][/vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\nOAESV Advocacy Day 2023 – Shape Ohio Together\nApart\, we can only do so much; together\, we can do a lot more. Together we can make a difference in the movement. We can provide comprehensive\, coordinated rape crisis services to survivors. We can emphasize primary prevention\, including efforts to change social norms\, behaviors\, and practices to cultivate a community climate free from violence. There is power and strength in the collective. \nHow can we use what we learn to shape the future? How can we take our collective ideas and strengths and turn them into action? Can we shape legislation? Can we shape school policies? Can we shape ideas\, beliefs\, and misconceptions? \nSince 2013\, OAESV’s Annual Advocacy Day to End Sexual Violence has provided advocates\, survivors\, and interested members of the public with the opportunity to express the importance of sexual violence advocacy and prevention to members of the Ohio Legislature. After the main event\, the one-on-one meetings with lawmakers provide invaluable opportunities for rape crisis professionals to share insight on pending legislation and make informed requests for funding increases. It is simply the best opportunity to have our voices heard in the place where laws are made! \nYou can access the agenda for this year’s Advocacy Day event here. \nASL Interpreters will be present. \nRegistration for this event is now closed. \nLegislative Meeting Resources:\n\nTip Sheet for Talking to Lawmakers\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\nFact Sheet for House Bill 124\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\nFact Sheet for House Bill 143\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\nFact Sheet for Rape Crisis Centers State Budget Increase\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\n2023 Advocacy Day Prep Webinar Slides\n2023 Advocacy Day Prep Webinar Recording\n\nOhio Statehouse Resources:\nYou can find information about all state policymakers\, including a bio\,\ncommittee assignments\, press releases\, and more\, online here:\nhttps://www.legislature.ohio.gov/ \n\nOhio Statehouse Security FAQs\nEvent Parking & Locations\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][/vc_column_inner]
