SUMMARY:OAESV Advocacy Day 2023
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][/vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\nOAESV Advocacy Day 2023 – Shape Ohio Together\nApart\, we can only do so much; together\, we can do a lot more. Together we can make a difference in the movement. We can provide comprehensive\, coordinated rape crisis services to survivors. We can emphasize primary prevention\, including efforts to change social norms\, behaviors\, and practices to cultivate a community climate free from violence. There is power and strength in the collective. \nHow can we use what we learn to shape the future? How can we take our collective ideas and strengths and turn them into action? Can we shape legislation? Can we shape school policies? Can we shape ideas\, beliefs\, and misconceptions? \nSince 2013\, OAESV’s Annual Advocacy Day to End Sexual Violence has provided advocates\, survivors\, and interested members of the public with the opportunity to express the importance of sexual violence advocacy and prevention to members of the Ohio Legislature. After the main event\, the one-on-one meetings with lawmakers provide invaluable opportunities for rape crisis professionals to share insight on pending legislation and make informed requests for funding increases. It is simply the best opportunity to have our voices heard in the place where laws are made! \nYou can access the agenda for this year’s Advocacy Day event here. \nASL Interpreters will be present. \nRegistration for this event is now closed. \nLegislative Meeting Resources:\n\nTip Sheet for Talking to Lawmakers\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\nFact Sheet for House Bill 124\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\nFact Sheet for House Bill 143\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\nFact Sheet for Rape Crisis Centers State Budget Increase\n\nIn Spanish\n\n\n2023 Advocacy Day Prep Webinar Slides\n2023 Advocacy Day Prep Webinar Recording\n\nOhio Statehouse Resources:\nYou can find information about all state policymakers\, including a bio\,\ncommittee assignments\, press releases\, and more\, online here:\nhttps://www.legislature.ohio.gov/ \n\nOhio Statehouse Security FAQs\nEvent Parking & Locations\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][/vc_column_inner]

SUMMARY:State Prevention Plan Town Halls
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]May 25\, 2023 \nTwo session options:\nMorning session: 10-1 pm\nAfternoon session: 2-5 pm \nOAESV is excited to invite your feedback on the State Prevention Plan recommendations for action and future convening in one of two town hall settings. The State Prevention Plan is a set of strategies\, goals\, and communities designed to align sexual and intimate partner violence prevention work across the state. Early in 2020\, the State Prevention Plan Planning Committee\, then a limited group of representatives from statewide organizations and some local programs\, enlisted the expertise of Sankofa Circle International to develop recommendations for the integration of an anti- oppressive framework into the statewide strategic action plan’s goals\, objectives\, strategies and key activities to ensure its inclusive\, accessible and successful implementation by the organizations who provide direct serves to the community. \nThese town halls will be opportunities to re-introduce the State Prevention Plan\, review Sankofa Circle International’s recommendations and provide feedback\, and begin designing communities of practice around the State Prevention Plan’s goals. These are open to anyone working in violence prevention and we welcome your open participation. \nYou will only need to register for one of the two sessions.
