SUMMARY:Seasonal Training Series (Fall): Story Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]With leaves turning golden\, nightfall arriving sooner\, and fires being lit\, autumn is the perfect time to settle down in a comfy chair with trusted company and tell stories. Storytelling can be a creative outlet for folks to find connection with one another or can help repair the disruption that can be caused by trauma. As victim service providers\, we should provide survivors of sexual violence that trusted space to share their story. Join OAESV for this 3-part series on Story Stewardship. \nPart 1: The Power of Storytelling – October 23\, 10am-12pm\n \nWe’ll start by laying the foundation of what makes storytelling so powerful and why it holds such significance in our work. During this training\, participants will gain insight into the relevance and benefits of incorporating storytelling into their work. We’ll also practice the art of personal storytelling and explore various storytelling strategies and techniques. \nPart 2: Storytelling Ethics Retreat – November 20\, 10am-12pm\n \nAfter establishing our storytelling foundation\, Part 2 of this series will take a look at how we\, as victim service providers\, ethically hold spaces for survivors to share their stories and only share their stories in ways that feel safe for them. We’ll learn the ethical considerations and effective approaches when faced with ethical issues. We’ll also explore essential factors to consider when embarking on narrative-focused and collaborative art-engaged work. \nPart 3: How to Plan a Workshop – November 27\, 10am-12pm \nWe’ll close our time together with a look at how local victim service providers can run storytelling workshops to help survivors find the best way to share their own stories. We’ll discover the resources and tools required to excel in story work and explore and learn about the principles and practices of participatory and co-designed planning approaches. We’ll also develop techniques to garner buy-in and investment from all involved parties\, including decision makers\, storytellers\, and staff.[/vc_column_text]CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW [vc_column_text]\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
