SUMMARY:Seasonal Training Series\, Taking Care: Resilience for the Self
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Spring Seasonal Training Series! Taking Care: Resilience for the Self with Sarah Buffie\, MSW\, LSW. Please plan to join us for both sessions on March 23 & 24\, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM\, as the training is designed to build across the two 90‑minute days. \nIn violence prevention work\, our ability to foster safety\, connection\, and healing in communities depends on how well we care for ourselves. This training grounds resilience as a core prevention practice\, a way to strengthen our capacity to engage\, respond\, and lead with clarity in the face of chronic stress\, trauma exposure\, and the emotional demands of the work. Through experiential mind–body activities\, participants will explore practices that support regulation\, presence\, and sustainability\, helping us prevent burnout\, build protective factors\, and model the wellbeing we hope to cultivate in our communities. \nTraining Objectives: \n\nLearn prevention‑aligned strategies for nurturing personal resilience as a protective factor in their work.\nEngage in interactive mind–body exercises that enhance regulation\, connection\, and collective capacity.\nExplore practical tools for returning to balance and grounding during moments of stress\, activation\, or compassion fatigue.\n\nREGISTER HERE.

SUMMARY:Presenting Data Effectively
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\nPresenting Data Effectively\nIn this virtual 2-day session from 10:30am – 2:30pm\, you’ll learn the undeniable science behind why we need to be presenting data effectively. We’ll walk through Dr. Evergreen’s Four Step Visualization Process – a surefire sequence of steps that leads to high-impact graphs. Along the way we’ll consider how audiences engage with visuals\, which chart type will best tell the story in the dataset\, and how we can use easy to learn design skills to sharpen up the point in the visual. After this workshop you’ll be better able to visualize your data so it represents your quality data using simple strategies. \nDeadline to register is August 12. \n**Spots are limited and reserved for folks in the field working directly with data visualization.[/vc_column_text]CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW [vc_column_text]\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Antonio is the Ranking Member on the Health and Transportation committees and sits on the Finance\, Higher Education and Workforce\, and Ways and Means committees. The first in her family to graduate from college\, Antonio holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Cleveland State University and a Master of Public Administration from the Maxine Levin College of Urban Affairs at CSU. She and her wife live in Lakewood and are the proud parents of two daughters. \n  \n \n  \nSenator Matt Dolan is serving his second term in the Ohio Senate\, representing Cuyahoga County – home to the largest rape crisis program in the United States. Prior to joining the legislature\, Senator Dolan was active in the community\, where he served on several boards\, including the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the American Red Cross\, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History\, LifeAct\, the Rio Grande University Board of Trustees\, and Cleveland Sports Charities. He also sat on the Case Western Reserve University Advisory Committee and the Cleveland Foodbank Strategic Planning Committee. He is currently a member of the Cleveland City Club and the Cleveland Council on World Affairs. \n  \n \n  \nA graduate of Cleveland Heights’ Beaumont School\, Juanita Brent always knew she wanted to serve the communities she calls home. As a member of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Women’s Caucus and a \nformer member of the board of trustees for the Health Care Service Corporation\, the largest customer-owned health insurer in the country\, Brent knows how important it is to provide women and families with access to affordable\, quality health care. Prior to holding elected office\, Brent also worked as a field director for the Ohio Democratic Party and founded Social Society Cleveland\, a nonprofit professional networking organization. She currently sits on the board of the Harvard Community Services Center’s Lee-Harvard Community Development Center and is eager to bring her experience building and organizing strong communities to Columbus. \n  \n \n  \nAs the first black female mayor of Toledo\, State Rep. Paula Hicks Hudson has always exhibited a commitment to empowering and helping people improve their quality of life. She currently represents Ohio’s 44th House District\, which includes central Toledo. Rep. Hudson’s purpose has centered on improving the quality of her community through her hard work in the public and private sectors. During her 35-year professional career\, she has worked as an assistant Lucas County prosecutor\, assistant public defender\, and assistant state attorney general. From 1998-2002\, she served as the legislative director of the Toledo City Council. Following that\, she served as the director and deputy director of the Lucas County Board of Elections and chief legal counsel to the Ohio Office of Budget and Management under Governor Ted Strickland. She is also the past president of the Thurgood Marshall law Association and the Toledo Women’s Bar Association. \n  \n \n  \n  \nCongressman David Joyce has represented Ohio’s 14th Congressional District since 2012. Congressman Joyce actively supported VAWA reauthorization amid the pandemic and voted for its passage in the House on March 17. \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \nServing House District 31\, Rep. Brigid Kelly focuses on issues impacting children and families\, including investing in local schools\, supporting paid sick and family leave\, creating and sustaining good wages and affordable health benefits\, and maintaining worker safety. In the 133rd and 134th General Assemblies\, Rep. Kelly has worked with Rep. Lipps to introduce Erin’s Law\, House Bill 321. One of OAESV’s top legislative priorities\, Erin’s Law would require age-appropriate sexual abuse prevention education in Ohio schools. This year\, Rep. Kelly introduced House Bill 55\, which would allow virtual testimony\, enabling increased access to participation in the legislative process. \n  \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \nCongressman Anthony Gonzalez represents Ohio’s 16th District. This year\, he co-sponsored VOCA Fix legislation critical to sustaining Ohio sexual violence services. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n \nState Senator Teresa Fedor is a Democratic member of the Ohio Senate\, representing the 11th District.  She returns to the Senate\, where she previously served from 2002-2010\, following eight years as the Ohio Representative for the 45th and 47th House Districts. Throughout her legislative career\, Senator Fedor has championed responsive and responsible government. She brings with her both expertise and an accomplished body of legislative work focused predominantly on education\, health care\, and human trafficking where she is considered the state’s preeminent legislative voice in the fight to combat it. A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Ohio Air National Guard\, Senator Fedor spent 18 years in the classroom at Toledo Public Schools before first pursuing elected office in 2000 (Ohio House of Representatives\, 52nd District).
