Board of Directors

The members of the Board of Directors for the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence are a dedicated group of volunteers who have the responsibility of directing the organization’s financial development, public policy, and fiscal oversight, which helps to ensure the continued success of OAESV. Board Members for OAESV welcome your input and appreciate any feedback you have to offer in guiding the important work of the Alliance.

Below, board members share their reasons for joining and for standing up against sexual violence in Ohio:

Lysette M. Roman, JD

President

Lysette M. Roman represents and counsels employers on labor and employment law matters. Her experience includes employment litigation, defending both public and private entities against discrimination and harassment claims under Title VII, ADA, and ADEA. Lysette has a special interest training employers in issues relating to Respect in the Workplace and Equal Employment Opportunity laws.

During law school at CWRU, Lysette was co-president of the Hispanic Law Student Association and senior tech editor to War Crime Prosecution Watch online publication. Lysette played soccer at Colgate University and participated in various creative arts projects with her classmates. In her free time, Lysette mentors students through Esperanza, Inc.; sits on the Board for LatinUs Theater; reads books at Lakewood Park; watches too much TikTok; and spends quality time with her friends and family.

Ashley Kline, LPCC-S

Vice President; Treasurer

Ashley Kline is the Chief Program Officer at Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center, which is home to the Rape Crisis Center and Battered Women’s Shelter in Summit and Medina Counties in Ohio. In her role, Ashley oversees program operations and evaluation across the agency’s comprehensive program offerings to ensure high quality service delivery to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Ashley is also a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervision designation (LPCC-S) specializing in the treatment of trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and co-occurring mental health conditions due to experiences of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.

Throughout her career, Ashley has provided trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and therapeutic services to survivors. She has held leadership roles in numerous community coalitions, task forces, and advisory boards working towards systemic collaboration to enhance responses to survivors in the community. She received her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Kent State University and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Conflict Resolution. Ashley has completed advanced training in trauma treatment modalities, including certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. She also has an extensive presenter history at national, state, and local trainings providing education to professionals on best practices in working with survivors of trauma and strategies for professional resiliency.

Ashley is passionate about providing accessible trauma-informed services to survivors, as well as working to end relationship violence and sexual violence in our communities.

Jennifer Karpus-Romain

Secretary; Board Recruitment & Development Chair

Jennifer Karpus-Romain serves as the Executive Director at the Transportation Marketing & Sales Association (TMSA) and as an adjunct professor at Cuyahoga Community College teaching social media. Previously, she was Director of Marketing for Faye and has also held roles in the publishing and marketing industries, and managed her own content and publishing firm. She has been a volunteer at the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence (OAESV) since 2019.

Catherine Bous, MSW

Fundraising Committee Chair

Catherine Bous, MSW is a seasoned Strategy and Evaluation Professional with over 8 years of impactful experience in the social impact sector. Catherine works with small nonprofits to implement evaluation strategies and program improvements using data-driven insights. Catherine’s expertise extends to project management, mixed-method research, and client relationship management. She has presented at conferences like the Nonprofit Technology Conferences and contributed to publications on data-driven strategies in grantmaking. Beyond her professional endeavors, Catherine actively engages in civic responsibilities as an Associate Board Member at America Scores Cleveland, an Alumni Board Member at the Mandel School, and as a coach for Soccer Shots Cleveland. Catherine is also an Adjunct Professor at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, where she received her Masters in Social Work in 2015. Catherine lives in Cleveland with her spouse and dog.

Jamahal C. Boyd Sr.

Board Member

Jamahal C. Boyd, Sr. joined The Crossroads Center as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in July of 2019. The Crossroads Center is a behavioral and mental health, substance use and addiction treatment Agency providing service to the Cincinnati, Ohio region. The Agency he leads has been around for 69 years, initially established as a drug and alcohol treatment service.

Jamahal brings a wealth of experience after almost 25 years as a progressive professional in the healthcare industry. He joined TriHealth in 2016 from the Mercy Health System, where he last served in the role of Director of Operations for the Clinically Integrated Network (Cincinnati). During his tenure with Mercy Health, he also served in the role of Director, Multicultural Equity. Prior to his tenure with Mercy Health, he worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

He is a (Former) National Board Member, serving as the Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee and Past President of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) – Delaware Valley Chapter. (Former) Chairman of the Trustee Board for the Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church, (Former) Board Member for the National Underground Freedom Railroad Center; (Former) Board Member for the Family Nurturing Center (FNC); and (Former) Board Member for The HealthCare Connection (a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the Cincinnati Region). In 2006, he received the Young Executive of the Year Award from NAHSE. Jamahal holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Delaware State University and is an unapologetic Philadelphia native.

His proven, award – winning ability to collaborate with community leaders, physicians, executives, and team members at all levels of the organization, has proven invaluable to the organizations he has served. His Agency was recently acknowledged by HELP.org as the #1 Drug and Alcohol and Rehabilitation facility in the Cincinnati Region and by Newsweek.com and Statista as one of the Top 200 and ranked by them as #4 in Ohio. Yet, the most important position, status and ranking of greatest value to him is being the proud husband (for 19 years and counting) to his lovely wife (Eboni) and father of 3 amazing children (Jamahal Jr 17, Jayla 12 and Jace 9).

Jennifer Disco

Board Member

Jennifer is a dual-degree Master of Social Work and Nonprofit Management student at Case Western Reserve University (Class of 2026). She is deeply committed to mental health and trauma-informed care, having provided school-based case management and therapeutic support to children and adolescents. Jennifer also has experience working with adults in substance use recovery, offering strengths-based, client-centered support.

As a former sexual assault victim advocate, she supported survivors with compassion and integrity. After 20 years of active duty service in the U.S. Coast Guard, where she specialized in emergency management, disaster response, and interagency coordination, Jennifer brings a calm, grounded presence to her work. Guided by the belief that every person holds inherent worth and value, Jennifer’s work centers on walking alongside others as they heal, grow, and become the fullest expression of themselves.

Chris Thompson

Board Member

Chris is inspired and motivated by the idea of living in a beloved community full of exuberant joy. To advance that idea, he helps community leaders catalyze enduring, positive change through civic collaboration. As president of Civic Collaboration Consultants, LLC, he designs and supports collective efforts to address community priorities, including public health; housing; food security; safety; education; and economic and workforce development.

Chris is the author of Collaboration, a guide to cross-sector collaboration published by the Fund for Our Economic Future, where Chris was a director from 2007 to 2016. He formed Civic Collaboration Consultants, LLC, in 2016. Before joining the Fund, he worked as a communications consultant and spent 20 years as a journalist in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio.

A native of San Francisco and a graduate of Marquette University, Chris and his wife, Anne, live in Northeast Ohio. They have two children and four grandchildren. His preferred therapy for recovering from the rigors of cross-sector collaboration is to fly fish.

Dr. Rachel Pope

Board Member

Dr. Rachel Pope is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, researcher, and fierce advocate for women’s health and bodily autonomy. With a clinical and academic focus on female sexual health and vaginal reconstruction, she currently serves as Chief of the Female Sexual Health Division and is a vital member of the Gender Care Program at the Urology Institute at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

Dr. Pope’s commitment to global health has shaped much of her career. After completing a fellowship in Global Women’s Health, she spent four years in Malawi, where she served as Medical Director of the Fistula Care Center and Fellowship Director for Global Women’s Health at Baylor College of Medicine. Today, she leads international collaborations through University Hospitals’ global health program, linking U.S.-based specialists with partners in West and East Africa to expand access and education.

As the founder of Our Womanity and co-founder of The Menopause Retreat, Dr. Pope creates empowering spaces for women to reclaim knowledge about their bodies and health. Her research interests in health disparities and social determinants of health align powerfully with OAESV’s mission. As a board member, she brings compassionate clinical insight and a global lens to support survivors and challenge systemic injustice.

Jamie Greenwolf

Board Member

Jamie Greenwolf brings a powerful blend of experience in mental health, education, and violence prevention. He is currently completing his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and serves as an intern clinician at Cleveland Sex and Intimacy Counseling, where he supports clients through a trauma-informed, inclusive lens. With a deep understanding of emotional wellness and relationship dynamics, Jamie is preparing to serve individuals and communities through accessible, affirming care.

Before entering the counseling field, Jamie dedicated over 13 years to higher education, most recently as the Assistant Director of Student Wellbeing at John Carroll University. In this role, he oversaw wellness programming across mental health, substance use, and sexual health, and trained peer educators to be effective voices for prevention on campus. Jamie has designed and delivered dozens of workshops and curricula on topics such as consent, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and survivor support, making a lasting impact on campus culture and student safety.

Jamie’s expertise in creating meaningful, trauma-informed training and his unwavering commitment to equity and prevention align seamlessly with OAESV’s mission. His voice and vision will be instrumental as we continue our work to end sexual violence and support survivors across Ohio.

Kori Koschalk-Newmister

Board Member

Kori brings more than a decade of experience in education, empowerment, and survivor advocacy. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Interpersonal Relations in the Office of the Dean of Students at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), where she provides direct support and guidance to students navigating complex personal and relational challenges. Before joining BGSU in 2022, Kori spent 13 years in the nonprofit sector, facilitating comprehensive sexuality education with Toledo-area youth—instilling knowledge, confidence, and safety in the next generation.

Kori’s impact extends well beyond her professional role. She serves her community as the Financial Officer for the Bowling Green chapter of the American Association of University Women, Chair-Elect of BGSU’s Administrative Staff Council, a Wellness Ambassador, and a member of the Wood County Domestic Violence Coordinated Response Team. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from BGSU in 2007 and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Popular Culture.

As a prevention educator and survivor, Kori’s connection to OAESV’s mission is deeply personal. She shares, “From trainings to awareness month toolkits, I’ve witnessed the impact OAESV’s work can have on communities. As a survivor, I know how essential it is to have access to support. In our current climate, it’s more important than ever to ensure organizations like OAESV have the resources they need to thrive. I’m honored to step into this role to increase the visibility of OAESV. Believe survivors. Support survivors.”
