Dedicate your time to ending sexual violence in Ohio.
We are looking for several interns to join us in our mission of advocating for comprehensive responses and rape crisis services for survivors and empowering communities to prevent sexual violence. You can review the various roles and requirements below. The internship period is approximately 4 months but may be adjusted at the discretion of each team’s director, with the agreement of the intern.
All of our internship positions require:
- Online work, with some requiring in-person work, or with the possibility of in-person work
- At least 4 hours per week
- A commitment of at least 4 months

Data Management & Resource Intern
The Data Management & Resource Intern will assist the OAESV Grants, Resources & Communications Manager with internal tasks related to data collection and to our external resource library. This intern will support the Manager in addressing gaps in services, building resources to meet these gaps, and working to challenge oppressive systems. An ideal candidate brings energy and excitement to the role of data collection connected to optics such as sexual violence, attention to detail, and willingness to learn and be flexible.
Projects and expectations may include:
- 8 hours a week
- Support internal data collection, data cleaning and migration, and resource coordination
- Pull lists and reports from Coalition Manager (software used by many state coalitions)
- Research Ohio and National sexual violence organizations for updated data and information
- Review, upload and organize resources for online library of sexual violence resources, usable by members and communities in Ohio
Experience and Skills:
- Experience with, or an interest to learn about, utilizing and migrating data within databases
- Confidence using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat Reader

Membership & Administrative Intern
The Membership & Administrative Intern will assist the OAESV Membership & Resource Administrator with internal tasks related to member engagement, updating rape crisis resources, office tasks, and more.
Expectations, Experience, & Skills:
- 4 hours a week minimum
- Hybrid attendance – In person in Independence office (depending on health mandates), and remote work
- Experience with, or an interest to learn about, local victim service agencies
- Confidence using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat Reader

- Willingness and excitement to work both collaboratively and independently
Legal Assistance for Victims Intern
The Legal Assistance for Victims (LAV) Intern will assist the OAESV LAV team with projects that support legal services for survivors.
- Must be studying to be paralegal or attorney
- Must have skills drafting resources & preparing presentations
- Confidence using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat Reader preferred
- Commit to 10-25 hours per week

Executive Administrative Intern
The Executive Administrative Intern will assist the OAESV President and Chief Executive Officer with administrative needs at the office & online, including data and documentation needs.
- Commit to 8-12 hours per week for agreed-upon period of time
- Hybrid – work will be completed in person at the Independence, Ohio office, as well as online
- Must have a commitment to OAESV’s mission and values
- Must have willingness and excitement to work collaboratively and independently
Internal Operations Intern
The Internal Operations Intern will assist the OAESV Vice President of Operations with administrative needs, including data & documentation tasks and researching organizational best practices.
- Commit to 8-12 hours per week for agreed-upon period of time

Programs Intern
The Programs Intern will assist the OAESV Programming Team with planning and facilitating OAESV programs, such as trainings and statewide meetings. Applicants should have research and writing skills.

Prevention & Public Health Intern
The Prevention & Public Health Intern will assist the OAESV Prevention Team with connecting prevention professionals around Ohio.

Communications & Engagement Intern
The Communications & Engagement Intern will assist the OAESV Chief Officer of Communications & Engagement with carrying out internal and external communications needs, including drafting newsletters, curating social media posts, updating the website, and more.
- Commit to 8-12 hours per week for agreed-upon period of time
- Work will be completed remotely, with the possibility of in-person work
- Confidence using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Confidence using, or willingness to learn, Canva

Social Change & Outreach Intern
The Social Change & Outreach Intern will assist both the OAESV Coordinated Community Responses Team with researching best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion; researching best practices for supporting male survivors, such as support groups and gender-specific resources; verifying statewide resources for systems advocacy; and more.

The Public Policy Advocacy Intern will assist the OAESV Director of Public Policy & External Affairs with legislative analysis, marketing and communications needs, and more.
- Should have interest in federal and state legislation, as well as other government relations
- Support with legislative analysis, as well as various marketing and communications needs
- Commit to 10-20 hours per week for agreed-upon period of time
