How OAESV Can Help

The Role of a State Coalition

As a statewide coalition, OAESV provides training, technical assistance, guidance, and resources regarding the prevention of and response to sexual violence in Ohio. We are not a rape crisis center and are not equipped to provide 24/7 crisis support, nor do we have the authority to investigate any case, to intervene in any investigation, or to initiate any formal action against any agency or individual, including police departments. If you are in need of crisis support, please contact the rape crisis center in your community, or call the Ohio Sexual Violence Helpline at 844-OHIO-HELP.

Advocacy Services

OAESV can help connect survivors to local programs through our Rape Crisis Center (RCC) map and Resource Line (888) 886-8388. For those survivors without an RCC in their county, OAESV’s Survivor Coordinator may be able to provide limited Advocacy services. The Coordinator can provide resources, support, and some in-person services. To request services, please complete this form.

Legal Services

OAESV provides a couple different ways to access legal services, including the OAESV Panel of Attorneys and the OAESV Legal Clinic. The Panel utilizes local attorneys to provide direct representation in several counties. The OAESV Legal Clinic provides brief advice during specific office hours and direct legal representation throughout the state. With two attorneys and one specialist, the Clinic is unable to accept all cases for direct representation but will be available to provide brief advice a couple of times a month for quick questions.
