Using Additional Resources from National Organizations

National Sexual Assault Resource Center (NSVRC)

Each year, the NSVRC also releases a toolkit of helpful information for SAAM. The NSVRC website reads,

“Sexual harassment, assault, and abuse can happen anywhere, including in online spaces. For too long harassment, cyberbullying, and sexual abuse and exploitation have come to be expected as typical and unavoidable behaviors online. Building Safe Online Spaces Together is possible when we practice digital consent, intervene when we see harmful content and behaviors, and promote online communities that value respect, inclusion, and safety.”

The Alianza Latina en contra la Agresión Sexual (ALAS)

According to the ALAS website,

The Alianza Latina en contra la Agresión Sexual (ALAS) is a national network of Latin American victim advocates working to address and prevent sexual violence. Through collaborative efforts and cyberactivism, ALAS promotes the leadership of Latin American victim advocates and develops models, resources and policies to empower communities and eliminate access barriers for survivors. ALAS honors the diversity of our culture by respecting the similarities and differences of our languages, dialects, and histories.

ALAS has created a campaign titled “Yo Soy SAAM (I am SAAM)”, promoted as a collective effort of Latine advisors to promote the inclusion and participation of Latine communities during SAAM. There will be several webinars offered in Spanish. Keep an eye on the list and registration information by going to their webpage: https://nuestrasvocesconf.wixsite.com/alas

Shifting Prevention Strategies During SAAM and Beyond

This infographic walks through important considerations in shifting your organization’s prevention strategies, such as moving from ‘Expertise’ to ‘Experience’ and ‘One-Off’ interactions to ‘Ongoing’ engagement of your communities. Share this in your office and trainings to encourage your team to practice year-round reflection on these approaches.

Survivor Feedback: What Your CCRT/SART Can Do to Support Survivors

As Sexual Assault Response Teams, Coordinated Community Response Teams, and Sexual Assault Service Providers, we know that April is a big deal. However, we also know that it’s important that SAAM is survivor-centered and sustainable. Ideally, SAAM is more than a month, it’s a timestamp of commitment to survivors in our communities. The coordination and connections SARTs and CCRTs have can be key in committing to survivors in our communities during SAAM and sustaining that commitment past April.

This poster allows you to checkout the survivor feedback on what they want to see communities commit to for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and beyond, and some ideas from our OAESV team on how your CCRT/SART can act on this feedback. Be sure to chat with your team and share your own ideas too!

We send our immense gratitude to the survivors who shared their feedback to create this resource.
